Omnia HD backA number of prototype Omnia HDs have been doing the rounds across different sites. One came with a back cover made of brushed metal and the other was of a glossy plastic material. It seems that Samsung has decided to go for the glossy plastic back in the retail version as seen in the official press pictures here.

Now, I’m sure most people want the brushed metal cover. Not only does it actually look better in our opinion it also will not be a fingerprint magnet which I imagine the glossy plastic will be. However, Samsung may have some legitimate reasons for taking the plastic route for which we hope to find out soon.

Samsung have press shots of the glossy i8910 aswell as the metal one, so how can you so confidently say that the ‘Omnia HD gets glossy plastic back cover’?

Lol, i think the story is not from your post on Mobile review, because i saw the official picture at http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/ which it shows a glossy cover, i think he get it from there.

I also read a news about this one on SymbianFreak, and his source is also http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/
and can you give me a link about your post at Mobile Review, thanks.

metal one are from the old samsung omniaHD, All about symbian said that the new one was the glossy one. which maybe be will be the same with the final product.

All of the recent press shots that have cropped up show the glossy back cover. Recent previews also show a glossy plastic cover, check out phoneArena’s gallery.

But given that the phone has been listed on the above official site it seems pretty definitive to me. Those pictures also suggest no lens cover which AAS alluded to originally.

Of course, Samsung may change their mind but right now that’s where we stand.
