Official: We are a Samsung Omnia HD Ambassador!
Posted by soHD in News, tags: Ambassador
We got some great news today and wanted to share it with you guys. We were contacted by Samsung to learn that we have been chosen as one of the winners to become an official i8910 Omnia HD Ambassador.
What does this mean you may ask? Well, it means we will be getting our hands on the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD smartphone at some point soon, courtesy of Samsung. It also means that we will be able to share our experiences with you, answer any questions you have and show you what the phone is capable of. I have no idea when we’ll be receiving it, but be sure that we’ll be keeping you fully updated!

Great news. Glad to hear that someone will be able to give us informed information about the phone.
Read the only full review of it available so far and very interested in finding out other opinions of the phone.
Can’t wait until it comes out been holding off on renewing my contract until the OHD is available.
Here’s hoping it’s worth it.

Alright here are the things I want to see from your impressions:
1)Audio call quality. PhoneArena said it was sub par, so we want recordings of audio calls to judge for ourselves!
2)Will Hulu work on the Omnia HD? How well does it play?
3)More video examples from the HD Video Recording Aspect of it!
4)Push the phone to its limit.
5)”Speed” of the phone. What aspects does it slow down on? What aspects are fast about it?
No worries guys, we’ll be testing it as fully as possible.
We won’t be able to test Hulu as it’s not available here in the UK. Alternatives like Vimeo should give you an idea though.
Personally, I’m looking forward to testing call quality (it’s no good if this part is sub-standard), battery life (phoneArena did no battery tests), quality of HD video recording and the file support for video playback.
Of course, we’ll be looking at other areas too such as camera quality (especially in low-light), the general software UI as well as GPS. Can’t wait to get going!
Congratulations! If anyone deserved to be made an Omnia HD ambassador it was you, this site is always bang up to date with the latest info and interesting articles…keep up the good work. Looking forward to your in-depth tests and review, as your first hand impressions will be the deciding factor in me getting one of these…
Also, can we clarify which CPU is in the final unit please? Well done on becoming an Ambassador.
wow, that is so cool.. so here, i also want to know is Tv-out via cable works in normal TVs!
please check if there is really no fm transmitter !
Congratulations. I received my ambassador notification yesterday too. I thought the contest was already over considering the dates they’d given so it came as a very pleasant surprise. Glad to see two of us UK boys got a look in on something like this. I’ve been looking for another ambassador because I can’t remember if we actually get to keep these phones or not. Any idea?
Oh and Anonymous, The TV out does work in normal TVs, not just HD ones. However there’s two seperate cables from my understanding and no-one currently knows which (or even if both) will be included in the box.
Nice work Furie!
Regarding whether we get to keep the phone, I can’t be 100 percent sure, but I think we do (fingers crossed!) The competition opened such a long time ago, that I thought the contest was already over too. Yesterday’s mail was certainly a nice surprise!
Really like your site by the way!
Hey there guys, i’m also lucky enough to have been picked for the ambassador programme to
I couldn’t believe when i got the email myself as i thought it was over a long time ago to.
Can’t wait to see what the phones like, should be brilliant.
Thanks man, you’re too generous. It’s a scrapbook at the moment. Once I’m doing this with a PC instead of a phone I’ll probably head on over to WordPress with my more serious posts.
I thought myself that we get to keep them, but that’s not the normal ambassador thing, and like you say it was a while back that this started. Fingers are crossed too as my main phone’s battery has swollen up recently and luxuries like food and bills keep stopping me replacing it. I’m just glad this is actually real. For a while there I was sure someone was playing a joke, even after checking Edelman out, as I couldn’t find a single other person online who’d got a spot. This post made my day as much as that e-mail probably made yours.
Furie – Looking at a few of the news sites that broke the ‘Omnia HD Ambassador’ story, it seems a bit ambiguous if we actually get to keep the phone or not. Many of them mention that we should be receiving it early and talk of ‘winning’ the phone but it’s not entirely clear. Hopefully we’ll find out for sure in the next few days. Either way, I’m just looking to get hands-on with the phone!
Sam – Many congrats! It would be great if we could find out who the other 47 winners were too, hopefully Samsung will release a list at some point…
yeah i wanna know too about fm transmitter!!!
Yeah, I’ve been scanning them myself. Had an e-mail a couple of days ago asking me to confirm my address so within the next two weeks I’d say. After that I’m raising an army and storming Samsung, swiftly followed by Proporta. Guy needs a case for a phone like that.
