UK i8910 Omnia HD sim-free release delayed
Posted by soHD in News, tags: Expansys, Orange, Play.com
There has been no confirmation from Samsung as to when UK consumers can get hold of the sim-free version of the i8910 Omnia HD. The only dates that we could rely on were from the retailers themselves. We were expecting it to be launched on May 25th according to a Play.com listing, however it now appears that the sim-free version has been delayed by a month.
Play.com now lists the 8GB Samsung i8910 HD for release on 25th June. This has also been confirmed by Expansys, a major mobile phone retailer, who has the same date listed. This is disappointing news if true, it means Orange will be the exclusive provider of the phone for the next few weeks at least. We are trying to get confirmation from Samsung themselves regarding an official release date.

Is it ture? If the release day is being delayed by such far, will this delay affect the release day on the other European countries, as well as the Asian countries? also the whole promotion plan on the markets will be affect …. so if this is true Samsung will be very still
I really hope it’s not true. I’m trying to get clarification from Samsung and will come back to you with anything concrete.
Maybe Video Recording audio fix?
i hope so..
Well, two possible reasons.
Samsung could be experiencing high demand from its contract carriers and want to push as much product to them as possible. Or those same carriers simply don’t want the competition and a back-room deal took place to keep the unlocked version off of the market.
I talked to two distributors I found while searching to see if I cold get the i8910 from a wholesaler, I was told that release date claims by retailers are totally unreliable. They assured me only Samsung themselves really know. They explained they supply the likes of o2, vodafone orange etc and they themselves dont know . It could be earlier than is claimed or later. Remember play.com advertised 25/05/09 release date initially.
