Nokia Messaging working on the Samsung i8910 Omnia HDNokia Messaging is a service that allows users to set up, access and use their email including a push service. Despite operating on a number of S60 devices, Nokia only supports its own handsets for this service. However, HDBlog.it is reporting that it has managed to get Nokia Messaging v10.00.14 working on a Samsung i8910 Omnia HD handset (which of course runs on Symbian S60 5th Edition).

There is a slight caveat though, you need to install the HelloOX v1.03 hack to get Nokia Messaging to work. Then you need to sign up to the Nokia Messaging service online to create an account. The program link to download will then be sent via SMS to the handset. Once you’ve installed the program and entered the password and followed the setup instructions, you will have access to your mail including push functionality.

Judging by the pictures on the HDBlog.it site, it appeared to work flawlessly once working. Now all we need is a widget that shows emails on the homescreen as seen in the Nokia N97. Hopefully, that can’t be too far away either. Has anyone managed to get this working yet? We’d love to hear your experiences in the comments below.

Nokia has become a quite good software developer, too bad they forgot how to make phones :) )

Nice. Does this mean we could hack all those cool N97 widgets over to the Omnia HD?

Got Nokia Messaging working with GMail (POP) on my i8910. Seems to be functioning fine. Will see if messages pop up!

  5. For full push HTML email on the Samsung i8910 just use the bundled copy of Roadsync. You’ll need to upgrade Roadsync to v4004, but once done, you can sync all your Gmail folders, calendar and contacts with full push HTML email. Much better than Nokia Messaging although you can only set up the one account.

Is there a way to free upgrade from the bundled Roadsync version 40031 to the v4004 to get access to gmail and google calendars? When i regiter my existing version on the dataviz website, it tells me there are prepaid upgrades available, and it wants $49 to upgrade??????

I’ve just got the Nokia Messaging running on my i8910, it is really very good! My only concern is that it says that it is a trial version, but doesn’t say when it will expire? Does anybody know how long the trial version lasts, and how much it will cost to renew a licence?

used the link to “sign up” online using my PC. first thing Nokia has you do is put your mobile phone number and select your phone. I use HelloX and some special file that makes my phone identify itself as an N97.

So I put my phone number and selected N97, click ‘next’.

on the next page I simply get the instruction to use my phone’s browser to go to http://email.nokia.com.

This gives me the same page as I got on the PC. So I put my phone number again and select the N97 and click next on my phone’s browswer.

on the next page I simply get the instruction to use my phone’s browser to go to http://email.nokia.com AGAIN!

So I’m looped, can’t sign up, cause always get this page, that has no further links or options.

Is there some way around this? thanks

I have installed this fine and accounts created for gmail but on my i8910 that account is within the native email client – I was under the impression that Nokia Messaging was a graphical/java app and hence maybe a lot better for viewing emails than the native i8910/S90v5 mail client – i.e. just like the screenshot above…but I see no such application or view as that above. I have hellox1.03 and have signed the nokia messaging app before installing, can anybody point me to how I get mails to display as above ? Thanks

I’m unable to actually subscribe to the nokia messaging service – per the comment above, the system loops but i’m not sure that is related to me not seeing the java type app as mail is received fine – just in that damn native email client which is so poor (imho) – one has no control of reading a lengthy mail due to the scroll bar sensitivity causing the screen to jump all over the place.

    Thanks
