Samsung Omnia HD uses the Cypress ‘TrueTouch’ touchscreen display
Posted by soHD in News, tags: Cypress TrueTouch
Cypress has announced that it is the company behind the 3.7-inch capacitive AMOLED display of the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD. According to the press release, “Samsung selected the TrueTouch solution based on its fast response time, gesture support and character recognition capabilities that enable the I8910’s outstanding multimedia player and fast internet browsing.” Given the wide acclaim the screen has garnered, it seems like Cypress has done a pretty good job.
Cypress’ role in the i8910 doesn’t end there. The handset also uses the Cypress MoBL dual-port as an interconnect between the application and baseband processors. This enables data to be exchanged efficiently with each subsystem being self-contained.

I’m pretty sure the TrueTouch is just the touch-sensitive layer on the screen; I think Samsung are responsible for the AMOLED display. That’s the main bit people have been praising. The touch bit seems to have been reasonably received from what I’ve read, but with some reviews bemoaning the lack of multi-touch.
Hoping that mine will arrive today or tomorrow.
You won’t be disappointed. I thought the iPhone screen was nice but after having this phone and then using my wife’s iPhone I was horrified to see how bad the iPhone looked lol
Yup, it arrived on Monday. That screen is truly amazing, though the glass is quite reflective. Still should be perfect for what I want to do.
I currently own a Samsung Omnia i900 and the best feature is the ability to double tap the screen in messages and email and the zoom function kicks in is this feature on the omnia hd?
