Martin Fields Screen Protector Review for i8910 HD

There are a number of manufacturers that provide screen protectors for various handsets and portable gadgets. One of the most well-known & trusted brands in this area is Martin Fields. The guys over at MobileFun.co.uk were kind enough to send the screen protector for us to review.
Martin Fields range of Overlay Plus screen protectors are known for the fact that it gives 99 percent UV light protection. The protectors are also washable and reusable, they use only a mild adhesive that means if you apply it wrong the first time, all is not doomed.

I questioned whether the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD really needed a screen protector. Its 3.7-inch OLED display is made from glass and is already very resistant. However, I decided that it would come in handy to prevent even tiny surface scratches. I’m certainly no expert when it comes to applying screen protectors. In fact, my past experiences have been pretty dire, capturing bubbles and often having to remove them altogether. I’m glad to say that my experience this time round was a much more positive experience.

We were sent a twin-pack that gave me some comfort just in case I messed one of them up. In the end though, the ease in which I was able to remove and reapply the protector meant that the second protector was redundant. Our first attempt in applying the screen protector was a pretty good effort, only capturing just one bubble in the bottom left corner (the pictures below show this).

However, after spending some time reapplying the protector, we got a near perfect result. The protector itself is very smooth to the hand. The big question I imagine people are wondering is that did the protector compromise touchscreen usability? The answer is an emphatic no, I was able to use the i8910 just as easily as before. However, I’d be lying if I said there was no difference to the display. Once applied the OLED display doesn’t look as vibrant before. Whilst the difference is minimal, it is there. Whether this will bother you depends on how ‘protected’ you want your handset to be.

If this doesn’t bother you, then I can definitely recommend the Martin Fields Screen Protector. It was easy to apply (& reapply if necessary), the protector feels more durable than cheaper alternatives and resistant against scratches. You can purchase it from MobileFun for £11.49 + p&p. A twin-pack can be had for £16.68 + p&p. Mobile Fun is one of the largest UK retailers dedicated to mobile phone accessories. They deliver across Europe too.

not worth it when you can get a pack of 6 for £3.50 on ebay
It’s far to expensive.
I used to think they were over priced for just a simple screen protector – same as the cheapo packs available online, ebay and at market stalls.. But they are far superior. The type of material used is far better and I have found on my last two phones that it really is worth pay for the difference. The other’s are just slightly better than the protective film you get with handsets. I have found you can notice the difference better when you are using a touch screen, as it’s less prone to fingerprinty smudges. I’d definitely recommend trying one, especially if you have a touch screen phone.
just got one off amazon, for £2 and it works a treat
will the sceen protector reduce the sensitivity of the phone ??
I’ve not had any problems with the sensitivity of the display since applying the screen protector.
Oh, c’mon guys, it’s glass screen! it doesn’t get more scratch-proof than this!
Don’t you think £17.47 is a bit much? I ordered a full body protector from http://www.gadgetshiled.com for under $7, with free shipping.
Oops, i got the site name wrong, it was http://www.gadgetshieldz.com, if anyone is interested.
