Samsung i8910 HD owner preps 25-page quality control report

Panashe Michael Ngwerume really cares about the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD. He cares so much that he was compelled to document all of the issues he has faced with the handset. However, this is not your usual bug list, he has written a comprehensive 25-page report that he hopes will be seen by Samsung to rectify some of the issues.
There is growing vocal dissidence against Samsung, where many people feel that they have given up support on what was meant to be its flagship handset. We’ve already reported on our issues on this and there are many other people that feel the same. A petition was struck up by Ngwerume, however he also went that one step further.
I’d suggest all i8910 owners to have a read of the PDF, it really is a comprehensive report and includes some solutions for some of the problems suffered. Kudos goes to Ngwerume for all his hard work and let’s hope that someone from Samsung listens.

Hey…one problem….i was installing yahoo app from moba**o and all of a sudden my omnia hd got stuck then in few seconds it was okay….but when i opened menu, there is nothing to be found…..it is displaying system error when i restarted……
HELP will be highly appreciated….
I agree with bighurk, and just would like to add this; Panashe Michael Ngwerume probably is as fearful as I am insofar as that these mobile/cell manufacturers are very cynical, with one hand they give, and with the other they take away, that which we have come to expect as standard – e.g. the i8910 doesn’t have smilies – isn’t that an irony, who doesn’t use em all the time as a way of communicating the essence of an emotion? . There are many other examples of the simplest functionalities which most of us have long since expected as standard that in this model we are denied. That is where the frustration lies. I worry that if Samsung can do this successfully then where will it end?
is there no way to change the OS of the omnia HD to android or winmo later on? after putting the phone through its paces, the symbian OS is really being a let down and is holding the device back so much. i should’ve gone with an iPhone if i wasnt so pulled in by the impressive hardware specs of this phone. i love the phone, but some serious software updating is necessary to bring back life to it and make it shine.
Is samsung going to support i8910 phone. I’m glad that you made this report and you are right. Lot of people spend lot of money for this phone and samsung should keep that in mind. It is great phone and needs more firmware updates. Samsung should fix the one camere option such as to make sure that flash and anti-shake is compatible. Does anyone know when new italian firmware will be available?
I have to say I’m pretty disgusted with Samsung, I paid a great deal of money for a supposedly “flagship phone” and found software support to be non existent…
No official updates rolled out to fix major flaws such as the browser crash problem or sound quality, the Samsung mobile apps store carries no Symbian software and the mobile studio software hasn’t been updated to install on Windows 7.
Although the hardware is state of the art I’ll never put my trust (or money) in a Samsung product again.
I agree. Samsung should provide Support for its i8910 users..
It has build such a amazing phone (i8910), but without good support users will dislike the company.
thus Samsung is spoiling its reputation. Benifiting its competitors..
DAMN SAMSUNG SUPPORT…. SUPPORT UR Users..!
i dont hope much from Samsung.. jz hope they’ll come out with another OS for this phone so all the genius out there can have better cooked rom!
HIello.
I should have gone with iphone but seriously loved the specs on the Omnia HD. I knew the simbian environment was not as slick as ipod but was not prepared for so many of the fuctions NOT WORKING. I originally thought it was my lack of understanding but now I know that the photo id caller does not set up consistently, the browser drops out and also the browser does not hold any previous web site requests. I love the screen but unless I can improve the browser I am going to have to beg my service provider to take back this handset.
Samsung need to get a move on and sort these problems out i still haven’t been able to get an update although there is promise for January with its new kinetic scrolling feature.
