Samsung i8910 Omnia HD should start selling from 1 August

Samsung also announced that the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD should start selling from 1 August at a recommended retail price of 540 euro. The first samples (mostly carrier-customized units) of the monster-spec'd Symbian handset made their way to the market back in May but right after its launch mass production was stopped in order for some i-dotting and t-crossing to take place. Apparently there were some issues with the Omnia HD that Samsung wanted to get fixed before the handset received wider availability.

Ah, so my guess at there being a manufacturing bottleneck was somewhat correct? Or at the very least, there was a good reason why it didn't seem as though the i8910 had been properly 'launched'.

I hope this leads to greater things for the i8910. I hope it doesn't lead to us early adopters being left behind if the August i8910's internals are slightly different/improved though!

This is good news, but I cant help but feel there a little late, after being the first on the market before the new iphone and n97 where out, now most people would of got them and be on long contacts so wont be getting the i8910. I feel they should of done promotion at the time of launch even if there was a bottle neck and low supply's and I think that would of made good promotion being able to say the phone is in high demand and is sold out!

I doubt Samsung will have a huge fan-fare on the re-launch. They'll probably just end up quietly introduce the phone back into the market.

It would be nice if they stepped up their marketing campaign though, not seen hardly anything in the UK recently.
